| Rich Crupi, a longtime aviation enthusiast from Hopkinsville, Kentucky built this 1/3rd scale F-117A "Nighthawk" Stealth fighter for his grandchildren. Crupi spent a total of three years planning and building the stealth. Although he originally intended the model to be more for his grandkids to taxi in the local Christmas parade, it quickly became clear first to his family and then to him that it could be a business venture. Stealth for Kids, USA was born around the same time Crupi was putting on his last coat of flat black. The aircraft is powered by an electric 36 volt golf cart engine and will taxi at 6 mph. This F-117A model has rudder pedals and an operating canopy for children up to 4'10". During the last two years of building the Stealth, Crupi's friend George Ragan of Hopkinsville, KY, assisted with building the wings, tail fins, and the complex drive system for the model. Crupi exhibits the Stealth at air shows and schools, where he offers photographs for purchase and science lessons for school children. |
